With Haywood, we enrolled him in the local public school and while we loved his teacher, loved the experience - it didn't end up meshing with our Montessori ideals, learned in preschool.
Many people have asked us about our decision making process on this one - we like to tell them that it just wasn't a (good fit) for Haywood or our family. No harm, no foul - we moved on to Montessori in the public setting and then ultimately onto full-on Homeschool in 2nd grade. Since then, Haywood has flourished in this environment.
Maverick has had the pleasure of starting off from the get-go in Homeschool. She loves activities like the one you see pictured here. Animal races are the latest for teaching the concept of 1st, 2nd, 3rd, etc. She can throw her animals into a race and then set them up for a podium ceremony. It was nice to have the recent summer olympics as a link that was fresh in her memory. I think she was skewing the races though - Mr. Tiger won 1st each time.
